Usability Testing, Findings & Iterations

  • Positive

Majority of testers responded fondly to the logo and look and feel of the design. The primary green/jade color was liked and viewed as associated with money.

Younger testers thought the Adult Piggy Bank logo was cute.

It’s a streamlined and simply designed finance app. The user flow was easy to follow and made sense. Elements were where users expected them to be and the navigation icons made sense. Calculating a goal feature, confetti and bike graphics/animations on the reward screen were well liked.

  • Negative

Some testers disliked the hot pink button and teal gradient background.

An older tester was not crazy about the Adult Piggy Bank logo because it lacked the seriousness.

  • Iterations

The hot pink color was eliminated from the color palette. The hot pink buttons were changed to the primary green/jade color.

The teal gradient background was replaced with 10% Primary green color.

Since I identified that he was not a targeted audience, I decided to leave the logo as was.

Takeaways

I learned it was okay to throw out irrelevant feedback. One of the interviewees/testers was an experienced investor and he was not looking for a beginners' saving app. He also. didn’t like the Adult Piggy Bank’s cuteness. Always keep the target audience in your mind to design.
